Sweethearts Terraza is hosting a rooftop Melbourne Cup party in Potts Point on Tuesday 3 November 2026, from 12pm to 3pm, and tickets are $150 per person. Your ticket covers a glass of Champagne on arrival, a three hour premium beverage package, roaming Mexican canapés, freshly shucked oysters, tarot readings, live DJs and saxophonists, and Fashions on the Field prizes, all under our retractable roof at 33-35 Darlinghurst Rd.

Race day, Potts Point style

We’ve swapped the standard sit-down Melbourne Cup lunch in Sydney for something looser and a lot more fun. Our Yucatán-inspired rooftop turns into a roaming fiesta: graze on Mexican canapés as they circle the terrace, knock back a fresh oyster, have your cards read between races and keep your glass topped up for three full hours while the DJs and saxophonists carry the afternoon. And because Sweethearts Terraza has a retractable roof, the party goes ahead rain, hail or Sydney sunshine.

Dress for the track. Fashions on the Field runs on the day, with prizes for the boldest frocks, sharpest suits and bravest millinery in the room.

Sweethearts Terraza sits on the rooftop of the Potts Point Hotel at 33-35 Darlinghurst Rd, Potts Point, a short walk from Kings Cross station and around five minutes from Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and the Sydney CBD. If you’re after a Melbourne Cup venue near the city without the CBD crush, join us on the rooftop with the best dressed crowd this side of Flemington.

No, and that’s the point. This is a roaming, cocktail-style rooftop party. Canapés and oysters circulate all afternoon, so you’re free to drift between the bar, the tarot table and your favourite corner of the terrace.

Yes, we strongly recommend booking ahead. Melbourne Cup is one of the biggest days on the Sydney calendar and rooftop spots are limited, so tickets tend to sell out well before race day.

The party goes ahead rain, hail or shine. Sweethearts Terraza features a retractable roof to cover 90% of the venue, leaving both covered and open-air sections. So, if Sydney turns on the weather we’ll simply shift the fiesta under cover.

Race-day best is strongly encouraged. We’re running Fashions on the Field with prizes for our best dressed, so bring your boldest frock, sharpest suit or bravest fascinator and give our judges something to argue about.
